Day Dreams, Night Dreams

Day Dreams, Night Dreams is the seventh full length CD of Vintage American Music from the Mountain Castle Band based in Los Angeles, California. All the music and lyrics were written by band leader Mikio Sankey. This CD again has a variety of musical styles featuring Chris Wonzer and Gretje Angell on lead and backup harmony vocals.
All the songs also feature lead instrumental solos by Peter Assing on tenor and soprano saxophones (EWI on Mystic Pearls), Mike Albert and Mikio on guitar, with guest pianist Winston Raval on Gretje’s Song and Whispering Bells. Paul ILL plays electric bass on all the songs, usually playing a Fender P-bass or a fretless Fender P-bass. Drums and percussions were played by Ronnie Ciago.
We wanted to paint a scenery of music ranging from rock, rhythm n’ blues, to country, a slight Latin beat and a tinge of jazz. Because Mountain Castle Music covers such a wide range of styles reaching back slightly to an earlier era of American music, we call our style of music Vintage American Music.
