Once Upon a Dream

Once Upon A Dream is the 10th full length CD by Mikio’s Mountain Castle Band based out of Los Angeles, California. All the music and lyrics were written by band leader Mikio Sankey. Chris Wonzer is the engineer, lead singer and co-producer (along with Mikio) of all the songs.
Our music is called Vintage America Music, which pays homage to a simpler, easier-going lifestyle of past generations in the United States. There is ample space within all of the songs for individual creative expressions by each of the three main solo instrumentalists. Mountain Castle Music is not concerned with the concept of presenting one sound or adhering to the idea of a similar type of mood for the entire CD. Our Mountain Castle Sound is very diversified going from an old school funk groove of the 1960’s in Take It Slow, to a country-rock style sound in the title track, to the energetics of World Music in Magenta In Blue and a psychedelic rock style in Carnival of Minds
Mikio Sankey plays lead and rhythm guitars on all the tracks. Chris Wonzer and our newest addtion Bette Miller sing all the lead and backup vocals on all of the tracks. Paul ILL plays various basses on all the songs. Peter Assing plays tenor saxophone. Mike Albert is on lead guitar. Ronnie Ciago is on drums and percussions. We added Hector Quintanilla Galvan on drums in Summer Dreaming and djembe on Magenta In Blue. Guido Consoli plays synthesizer on Carnival of Minds.
